The UK Government has invested £900,000 in the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Oil and Gas Transition Training Fund, a programme introduced to upskill the region's workforce. If you are employed in the oil and gas industry in Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire, you can apply for funding to help you transition to the renewable energy sector.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
To apply for support, you must meet the following criteria:
Currently employed in the oil and gas sector or its supply chain, or have been employed in the sector within the last 24 months.
Be able to demonstrate that your chosen training will support your transition into a job in the clean energy or renewables sector.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
The training should focus on upskilling or transitioning into renewables and be completed by 31st March 2026.
Fees can be match-funded by your employer. If you work for a company that operates in both oil and gas and renewable energy, you should confirm that you have discussed the possibility of them funding or match-funding your training.
Please note, the fund is not for recertification of existing skills.
