Oil and Gas Transition Training Fund

The UK Government has invested £900,000 in the Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Oil and Gas Transition Training Fund, a programme introduced to upskill the region's workforce. If you are employed in the oil and gas industry in Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire, you can apply for funding to help you transition to the renewable energy sector.

To apply for support, you must meet the following criteria:

• Live in Aberdeen City or Aberdeenshire, or live elsewhere in Scotland and work for an employer with a registered office in Aberdeen or Aberdeenshire.

• Currently employed in the oil and gas sector or its supply chain, or have been employed in the sector within the last 24 months.

• Be able to demonstrate that your chosen training will support your transition into a job in the clean energy or renewables sector.

The training should focus on upskilling or transitioning into renewables and be completed by 31st March 2026. 

Fees can be match-funded by your employer. If you work for a company that operates in both oil and gas and renewable energy, you should confirm that you have discussed the possibility of them funding or match-funding your training.

Please note, the fund is not for recertification of existing skills.
