  • Differential protection
  • Generation protection

Our combined Power System Protection (Protection Relays) and HV Switching & System Control course, is delivered over 5 days instead of the usual 6 days. This format integrates the content of both courses, ensuring comprehensive coverage while reducing the time required. Key Learning Outcomes

HV Switching: 

  • Gain an understanding of the basic principles in HV/LV switching.
  • Required knowledge of health and safety within a HV area and how to work safely.
  • Knowledge and skill to prepare and perform a switching and isolation within an HV/LV area.

Protection Relays: 

  • Understanding of the operating principles, techniques and setting procedures.
  • Understanding information and instruction in the safe operating procedures for electrical protection schemes.
  • Interpretation of protection fault indications and appropriate corrective actions, along with maintenance of HV and LV protection relays.

PPE Requirements

Safety footwear, coveralls, safety glasses and gloves.

Certification

You will recieve 2 certificates following completion of this combined course: 

HV Switching: City & Guilds 0672 Certificate 

Protection Relays: City & Guilds 9841 Certificate 

Both of the above certificates are recommended to be refreshed every 4 years.

Engineering or Electrical personnel involved in power distribution networks or the operation/maintenance of power system protection schemes and site operated switchgear. This includes those working with site-operated switchgear across onshore facilities, offshore installations, or onboard vessels.
