ASET Welcomes Energy Minister Stephen Gethins for Launch of the Oil and Gas Transition Training Fund
ASET was delighted to welcome Scotland's Energy Minister, Stephen Gethins, alongside representatives from the Scottish Government and Skills Development Scotland, to its Aberdeen training centre this week for the announcement of the new Oil and Gas Transition Training Fund.
The visit marked an important milestone in supporting Scotland's energy workforce, with the new fund designed to help eligible workers currently employed within the oil and gas sector access training and develop the skills needed to transition into renewable and sustainable energy roles.
As one of Scotland's leading providers of technical and safety training, ASET was proud to host the announcement and demonstrate the vital role that practical, industry-led training will play in supporting the country's transition to a lower-carbon future.
Showcasing Industry-Leading Training Facilities
During the visit, representatives toured several of ASET's specialist training facilities, including the CompEx Training Centre, HV/LV Training Centre and the ABCOL Production Training Platform.
ASET's facilities were used to deliver training as part of the 2025 Transition Training Fund pilot, helping delegates successfully develop the skills needed to pursue opportunities across Scotland's evolving energy sector. As the new Oil and Gas Transition Training Fund rolls out, ASET is proud to continue providing high-quality, hands-on training that builds on the success of the pilot programme.
Interest in these facilities continues to grow as employers and individuals seek practical, industry-led training that supports the transition into renewable and sustainable energy industries while building upon the valuable experience already held within Scotland's existing energy workforce.
