Key Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the requirements of the Health Technical Memorandum aligned with BS7671.
  • Identify the function, operational requirements and maintenance of low voltage systems within the Healthcare Sector.
  • Understand the application of the requirements for working safely on low voltage systems within the Healthcare Sector.

Course Content

  • Electrical safety rules and legislation including Health and Safety at work etc Act 1974, The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • SHTM06-02 Electrical Procedures
  • Type of live work requiring authorisation
  • Production of safety documentation including SHTM06-02 LW1 for Live work testing
  • Practical isolations of platform plant motors and testing according to a Planned Maintenance Routine (PMR)
  • Earth Loop Impedance Testing

Assessment

Delegates will undertake a multiple-choice examination paper to demonstrate they have achieved the key learning outcomes detailed above.

PPE Requirements

Safety footwear, coveralls, safety glasses and gloves.

This is a classroom based course with practical training exercises underpinning knowledge gained.
