ASET at the Safety Expo 2025

A Day of Inspiration, Safety, and Innovation

Earlier this month, ASET attended The Safety Expo 2025 at P&J Live in Aberdeen — one of the North-East’s leading events dedicated to health, safety, and workforce development. The Expo brought together hundreds of professionals from across the energy, renewables, manufacturing, marine, and construction sectors to explore the latest innovations and best practice in workplace safety.

As a specialist training provider with more than four decades of experience, ASET was proud to be part of an event that champions continuous improvement and collaboration across industry. The day served as a reminder of how crucial high-quality training and competence assurance are to ensuring safer operations, from offshore installations and hazardous environments to on-site maintenance and inspection activities.

A Special talk from chris lemons

The day began with a powerful and emotional keynote presentation from Chris Lemons, the world-renowned commercial diver whose extraordinary story of survival has captivated audiences worldwide. In 2012, Chris was stranded 300 ft below the surface in complete darkness after his vessel lost power, with only five minutes of air left in his emergency tank. Against unimaginable odds, he survived thanks to teamwork, calm under pressure, and exceptional training.

His story, told in the Netflix documentary Last Breath and now adapted into a 2025 feature film, served as a remarkable reminder of the importance of preparation, skill, and resilience - values that are at the very heart of ASET’s own approach to training. Chris’s message about human strength and collaboration under extreme conditions set an inspiring tone for a day dedicated to learning, safety, and continuous improvement.

INNOVATION THROUGH IMMERSIVE TRAINING

At the ASET stand, delegates had the opportunity to experience a new dimension of training through virtual reality technology. Using our VR headset, visitors could step into a simulated offshore environment and explore what it feels like to be on a wind turbine, gaining a sense of the challenges and conditions technicians face in real life.

The demonstration highlighted how ASET continues to embrace new methods of learning to make technical training more engaging, accessible, and effective. Our instructors and team members were on hand to discuss how VR and other innovations complement our hands-on, practical approach to safety-critical training — equipping delegates with the confidence and competence to work safely in demanding environments.

Alongside the VR showcase, the team shared insights into ASET’s extensive portfolio of training programmes that support industries such as energy, renewables, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and marine. From electrical and hazardous areas training to mechanical, process operations and dynamic positioning, ASET’s courses are designed to meet real-world operational needs and align with the highest industry standards.

LOOKING AHEAD

We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who visited the ASET stand during The Safety Expo 2025. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and shared passion for safety made the day a great success.

Events like this continue to reinforce why collaboration and innovation are so vital in our industry and ASET remains proud to play its part in driving safety standards forward.

We look forward to continuing the conversations from the Expo and hope to see you again at future industry events.
