About this course
Target Audience
This course is for personnel who have undertaken the CISRS COTS course and have held a CISRS Trainee Scaffolder or CISRS Scaffolding Labourer card for at least 6 months. You should have a head for heights and be able to work as part of a team.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Develop the knowledge of using tube and fitting scaffold.
- Gain an understanding of the core skills of scaffolding, including how to safely erect, alter and dismantle basic structures.
Course Content
- Safely and correctly erect independent and putlog scaffolds with returns, towers, birdcage scaffolds, mobile aluminium towers and scaffold inspection awareness in tube and fitting or proprietary systems where applicable.
- Observe regulations governing the safe erection, inspection and dismantling of scaffolds and work methods to be adopted.
- Determine the material requirements for independents and putlog with returns, towers, birdcage scaffolds and mobile aluminium towers in tube and fitting or proprietary systems where applicable.
- Lay out materials, set out the scaffolds and overcome obstacles to erect the scaffold safely.
- Ensure that scaffolds are constructed to statutory regulations following the safe systems of work set out in Safety Guidance (SG4).
- Interpret simple drawings.
- Understand the basics of tie testing.
- Make alterations to scaffolds (e.g. dropping lift height on independent).
Assessment
Each delegate will undertake a multiple-choice examination paper and practical excercises to demonstrate they have achieved the key learning outcomes detailed above.
Certification
CISRS Scaffolding Part 1 – Tube and Fitting Certifcate.
Required Instructor Qualification/Experience
- SVQ Level 3 in Scaffolding
- CISRS approved Training Instructor
Min/Max Delegates
2/9, course duration and times may vary depending on delegate numbers.
Special Requirements
- Delegates must have a current CISRS Trainee Scaffolder or Labourer card held for at least six months prior to the course start date.
- Delegates are required to bring their own PPE.
- PPE Requirements: Safety Footwear, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Hard Hat, Hi-Vis, Tools
