About this course
- Personnel intending to become Dynamic Positioning Operators
- Prospective DPO’s, who are in the process of training for an STCW certificate can start the DP scheme and complete all the elements, but cannot apply for the DP certificate until they hold an appropriate STCW certificate
Key Learning Outcomes
Gain the knowledge and required skills in relation to Dynamic Positioning operations to the Nautical Institute standard.

Each delegate will undertake an online Nautical Institute multiple-choice examination to demonstrate they have achieved the key learning outcomes listed above.
Course delegates will undertake realistic and live DP operational tasks in typical marine situations using the Kongsberg K-Sim DP NI Class B High Fidelity Simulator, which features 120 degree panoramic view and Class C desktop interactive simulation meeting the latest Nautical Institute standards.
ASET International Oil & Gas Training Academy Certificate - recognised and approved by the Nautical Institute which leads towards the internationally recognised Nautical Institute Dynamic Positioning Operators Certificate.
Required Instructor Qualification/Experience
- II/2 STCW CoC Certificate
- Minimum 5 years experience in Marine Operations
- Nautical Institute approved Training Instructor
2/6 Course duration and times may vary depending on delegate numbers.
Delegates will be required to provide evidence in one of the following areas:
- Certification in Regulation II/1 – II/2 – II/3 Deck and Regulation III/1 – III/2 – III/3 Engine.
- Recognized and equivalent marine vocational qualifications.
