Target Audience

Maintenance Technicians who are new to Fire and Gas Systems, Engineers requiring a full appreciation of system maintenance requirements or experienced personnel who require a refresher course.

Course Aims

To provide candidates with a solid grounding in Offshore Fire and Gas Systems. Practical experience of calibration and function check procedures on a live plant using Cause and Effects and all relevant documentation. Operation of Fire and Gas Systems with reference to ESD and DCS systems, Deluge Systems, Fire pumps.

Course Content

Fully functional Fire and Gas System, Live Plant Calibration function check procedures on the following:

  • Equipment, Smoke Detectors, Heat Detectors, IR and Video Flame Detectors, IR Gas Detectors, Toxic Gas
  • Detectors, Deluge and Sprinkler Systems activated by polyFlow.
  • Fusible plug, frangible bulbs, Invensys Trident plc


The majority of this course is practical hands on training delivered by fully qualified and experienced ex industry personnel using equipment replicated from the onshore and offshore oil and gas working environment. This course is exclusively delivered using ASET's world leading live and fully integrated ABCOL Oil and Gas Production Training Platform.


City & Guilds  SCQF Level 6 Certificate



Minimum Instructor Qualification/Experience

  • Further Education Qualification A1 or equivalent Workplace Assessor
  • 5 years offshore experience in production operations.

Special Requirements

Delegates are required to supply their own PPE.
