Course Aims

This Course is designed as an introduction to Generators and switchboards key elements and operation, with a pre- prepared switching and isolation program you will be stepped through an agreed procedure of isolations ultimately proving a safe worksite. Our fully rated HV/LV switchboards, consisting of HV VCB's and masterpack LV ACB's are supplied by our two generators and VSD's offering synchronising and load sharing capabilities from our installed remote Electrical Control Desk , there is local control facilities on our boards. The variety of interlocks during operation will be fully demonstrated.

Authorisations

Effects of faults on switchgear

Permit to Work systems

Switchgear types and principals of operation

Generation of switching and Isolation programs

Overview of HV/LV Protection Relays with Practical demo of Relay discrimination Scheme

Written Assessment.

Delivery

The majority of this course is practical hands on training delivered by fully qualified and experienced ex industry personnel using equipment replicated from the onshore and offshore oil and gas working environment. This course is delivered on a 'live' power switching network simulator.

Certification

City & Guilds SCQF Credit Rated and Levelled Certificate.

Required Instructor Qualification/Experience

5 years' experience in electrical plant operations

Qualified to Authorised Electrical Person status

Presentation skills

A1 Workplace Assessor.

Min/Max Delegates

6/12, course duration and times may vary depending on delegate numbers.

Special Requirements

Delegates are required to supply their own PPE.
