Course Aims

  • To familiarise delegates with the basic theory and principles of Vibration Measurement and Analysis
  • To introduce delegates to industry standards which apply to vibration levels in machinery, so that they may establish acceptable levels of severity, manage the collection of data, and produce and interpret trends
  • To introduce delegates to the principles of Fault Mode Analysis using frequency spectra data
  • To enable delegates to practice ‘hands on’ vibration measurement and analysis techniques using a variety of equipment.

Course Content

  • Theory of vibration, explanation of terms and units of measurement of amplitude and frequency, quantifying vibration. Sources of vibration in running machinery
  • Vibration measuring instrument and transducer types
  • Selection of suitable points on a machine from which to take vibration readings and accurately measure and record those vibrations using portable measuring equipment
  • Determining acceptable overall severity levels to ISO standards, produce trend charts and recognise when actual or potential fault conditions exist
  • Use of analysers to produce frequency spectra plots, comparing them to baseline signatures and troubleshooting charts, identification of simple fault conditions
  • Methods of minimising vibration and its effects
  • Recording and reporting vibration data. Introduction to vibration condition monitoring using SKF Polymanager software.

Delivery

Classroom and workshop based.

Certification

City & Guilds 9841 Certificate.

Special Requirements

Delegates are required to supply their own PPE.

Very informative, well presented
