About this course
Personnel who have completed the requirements of Stability 1 and 2 for the training for Ballast Control Operators.
Course Length (Days)
To provide training in the handling of Ballast Control operations in simulated, normal and emergency situations.
Comprehensive stability instruction utilizing full-motion simulators to replicate extreme wind and sea conditions and emergency situations. The course covers:
- Loss of watertight integrity
- Blackout (local and total)
- Equipment failure
- Shift of cargo
- Severe weather
- Mooring failure.
Classroom and unique high fidelity simulator using the latest technology linked to hydraulically actuated motion, providing exceptional realism to practical training.
ASET Certification is recognised internationally by the offshore Oil and Gas industry. An ASET/IADC DIT Certificate will be issued on successful completion of this course. The course meets the final part of the previous IADC Comprehensive Stability Programme 'A' and an IADC Drilling Industry Training certificate will be issued. The certificate issued will comply with the requirements of the United Kingdom and Canada, US Coast Guard (USCG) and the International Maritime Organization (lMO).
Minimum Instructor Qualification/Experience
Instructor will have two of the following Qualifications:
>>Class 1 (Master Mariner)
>> Instructors accredited by IADC/NI.
Min/Max Number of Delegates Required per Event
Times of Training
08:00 to 16:30.
Course duration and times may vary depending on delegate numbers.
Delegates must submit a copy of Stability 2 Certificate prior to acceptance on the course.

This course complies with the IADC/NI Guidelines and the IMO Requirement A.1079(28) for the selection and training of Ballast Control Operators. This certificate will comply with regulations in the United Kingdom and Canada, US Coast Guard (USCG) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
With the closure of the IADC Ballast Control Operator Certification scheme, ASET has accredited the course under the IADC Drilling Industry Training Accreditation scheme.
