About this course
Personnel with no formal stability qualifications who intend to become Ballast Control Operators or to undertake responsibility for Ballast Control Operators.
Course Length (Days)
4 including exam
To provide introductory training and a sound understanding in the theory and practice of basic stability that meets the needs of the marine and offshore industries and that complies with the IADC/NI guidelines for the training of Ballast Control Operators on Mobile Offshore Units, and IMO Resolution A.1079(28) Recommendation on Training Personnel on Mobile Offshore Units.

ASET Certification is recognized internationally by the offshore Oil and Gas industry. This ASET/IADC DIT Certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course and examination. The course meets the initial part of the previous IADC Comprehensive Stability Programme 'A'. The ASET certificate issued will comply with the requirements of the United Kingdom and Canada.
Minimum Instructor Qualification/Experience
Instructor will have two of the following Qualifications:
>>Class 1 (Master Mariner)
>> Instructors accredited by IADC/NI.

Notes to Clients
This course is aimed at personnel with no previous formal stability training. It complies with the IMO requirement A.1079(28) for the selection and training of Ballast Control Operators. This certificate will comply with regulations in the United Kingdom and Canada; US Coast Guard (USCG) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This course is suitable for all MOU personnel involved in stability calculations, including self-elevating platforms (Jack-Ups).
Delegates will be required to pass a written examination prior to the issue of a certificate.
With the closure of the IADC Ballast Control Operator Certification scheme, ASET has accredited the course under the IADC Drilling Industry Training Accreditation scheme.
