Course Aims

Personnel with no formal stability qualifications who intend to become Ballast Control Operators or to undertake responsibility for Ballast Control Operators. Personnel who do not hold an IMO STCW deck certificate and their Flag state allows for this course to lead to the entry for stability competence courses for Mobile Offshore Units. Delegates looking to gain basic stability theory in their pursuit of an OIM certificate for self-jacking platforms or anyone with involvement with the stability of MOU's.

Certification

ASET Certification is recognized internationally by the offshore Oil and Gas industry. This ASET/IADC DIT Certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course and examination. The course meets the initial part of the previous IADC Comprehensive Stability Programme 'A'. The ASET certificate issued will comply with the requirements of the United Kingdom and Canada.

Minimum Instructor Qualification/Experience

Instructor will have two of the following Qualifications:

>>Class 1 (Master Mariner)

>>Class 2

>> Instructors accredited by IADC/NI.

3/10.

Times of Training

08:00 to 16:30. Course duration and times may vary depending on delegate numbers.

Notes to Clients

This course is aimed at personnel with no previous formal stability training. It complies with the IMO requirement A.1079(28) for the selection and training of Ballast Control Operators. This certificate will comply with regulations in the United Kingdom and Canada; US Coast Guard (USCG) and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This course is suitable for all MOU personnel involved in stability calculations, including self-elevating platforms (Jack-Ups).

Delegates will be required to pass a written examination prior to the issue of a certificate.

With the closure of the IADC Ballast Control Operator Certification scheme, ASET has accredited the course under the IADC Drilling Industry Training Accreditation scheme.
